Ethypharm and Meda have just spread their collaboration for the marketing of Axorid ® in Eastern Europe. This “once a day” formulation is the first fixed association of ketoprofen with omeprazole, developed by Ethypharm. The first agreement, signed in 2007, concerned Western and Central Europe.
According to this agreement, Meda acquires the rights to market the product in Russia and in Turkey, in particular.
Axorid® is a well known, widely used association of two active ingredients: ketoprofen, a NSAID (Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug) for the treatment of rheumatic disorders, and omeprazole, an acid reducing proton pump inhibitor (PPI).
Axorid® can prevent gastrointestinal side effects from use of NSAIDs. It is used in case of symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and osteoarthritis in patients with a previous history or who are at risk of developing NSAID associated gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers and gastroduodenal erosions in whom continued treatment with ketoprofen is essential.
